A Librarian at Heart

Throughout my life as a smart female, various unsolicited comments have characterized me as a "librarian type". I know it was meant as an insult to my personal appearance and attractiveness, but for me it was always a badge of high honor. I love libraries!

Now in my seventies, I am actually acting on this passion. In spending many hours over many months pondering my best contribution to the resistance to fascism rising in this world, I was inspired to develop the Mother's Beads project. And while I have been involved in alternative and special education since the 1990's, it suddenly became clear to me that libraries are perfect vehicles for self-development, free progress education, and general lifting of society to strive for its best version of itself.

Have I mentioned that I love libraries? So, since I am creating beads (beatitude, education, arts, divinity centers) in four locations, I am planning libraries as the educational component in each. And I am currently making my way through the online basic certification training for library staff offered through the Maine State Library. I am also investigating minimal standards of staffing and other parameters to become part of a library network and folding into the recipe how I can accomplish this in the short and long term. In short, I'm really doing it!

Certainly, a never-ending book sale will be a necessary component of the funding for this aspect. But the library will be a Free Library in each location.

I am super excited!
