Ave Maria! Volunteers are needed for Catholic Worker adventures in Maine: help establish a pandemic-proof house of hospitality comprised of outdoor works of mercy on the grounds of Mary's House and a community of homestead hermitages, .03 acres per person, at Mary's Wood, both in Springfield, Maine (74 miles NE of Bangor).

Needed:

  • Person(s) and/or family(ies) to live at Mary's House during and after renovations and set-up of 14 outdoor stations for works of mercy plus farm and garden.

  • Person(s) to transport volunteer staff and guests between Portland and Springfield.

  • Likeminded folks to help brainstorm possibilities for locating a similar set-up in the Portland area.

  • Volunteers to staff Maine locations in Springfield, Lowell (40 miles NE of Bangor), and Portland.

  • Other help, accepted!

No fundraising. No solicitation of donations. Materials for renovations and construction will be gleaned, harvested or salvaged from God's Providence.

All interested volunteers, guests, and well-wishers may contact Mary's Ward at selby@marysward.com or 207-894-4153.

Peace.

May God bless you and Mary keep you.

ABOUT US

Mary's Ward is a community of activists, living together and apart, in cities and enclaves, working to further nonviolent social and spiritual evolution to hasten God's kingdom of heaven on earth.  The vision of human unity elucidated by:

Jesus and Mary

Sri Aurobindo and The Mother

Dorothy Day and Peter Maurin

is our paradigm.  Non-dogmatic Catholic Christianity, the Integral Yoga of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother, the Vedic vision, and strategic nonviolent resistance are among our means.  Mutual aid, corporal and spiritual works of mercy, alternative social institutions, urban and rural farming and gardening, and tactical frivolity are our tools.  Education, agriculture, and the arts are our fields of action.
